although sarah wright olsen wears many hats, as a self proclaimed "mama bear", mother is the most important one. the mom of two is also an actress and entrepreneur - she is co-founder of Your Zen Mama, a platform of support for parents + caregivers, as well as co-owner of Baeo, a plant based skin care line for the whole family. sarah's sunny disposition and genuine perspective shine through in this interview where she shares the greatest lesson she's learned from her own mother.
what is in your beach bag?
baeo bare face and bare butter, sunscreen, a book for me and for the kids, sand toys, snacks, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, extra clothes.
favorite beach to take your family?
point dume and this little beach with tide pools near ko olina on oahu.
what has surprised you about motherhood?
i think it surprised me how much i am capable of. i’m not sure i had as much confidence in myself before having kids. having my first baby at home all those hours of labor and then pushing out this 10 pound lil guy on my bed, it made me feel if i could do that, i could do anything.
it also blows me away how much moms can get done in an hour. i guess your multitasking making list skills have to get more efficient if you are gonna get anything done while juggling kids, babies, breastfeeding and drop offs.
what is the greatest lesson you've learned from your own mother?
what are your favorite family traditions?
spending our summers and winters in idaho and jackson hole, wy. we love paddle boarding the teton river, rock climbing, skiing, biking to teton thai in our little town. we feel so grateful to have this place we can go with our whole family to connect and spend quality time together. i am also crazy about my kids reactions to elf on a shelf.
what is your life /family motto?
“happiness is the journey,” something said often by my husband and father-in-law. it carries so much truth. reminding ourselves to stay in the moment and enjoy all the “things” little and big along the way. |
